This is what the people of Sudan have been experiencing for over three years. <\/p>\n<p>In the modern attention economy, Sudan does not seem to be able to assert itself against the world&#8217;s other trouble spots. We have become too accustomed to dying in African countries and Sudan seems to be of too little economic interest to be noticed beyond massacres like the one in Al-Fashir. <\/p>\n<p><b>Determine requirements<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cadus.org\/en\/blog-en\/cholera-prevention-in-sudan\/\">CADUS has had a team on site<\/a> since December 2025. Photo: CADUS<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The result: the reconstruction of the emergency room at Al Tamayouz Hospital would enable 24\/7 operation and thus close a critical gap in healthcare provision in the region. At the same time, it would become the only fully functioning hospital in the city of Khartoum. Photo: CADUS<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Parts of the floors, walls, lighting and air conditioning systems were replaced, fuel for the generator was purchased and oxygen cylinders were filled. Photo: CADUS<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Emergency room in operation<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Among other things, our team in Khartoum provides training in infection control and works with local colleagues to develop work processes to ensure that the emergency department can continue to operate in the future. For example, we are practising triage, i.e. prioritizing patients for treatment according to their respective state of health.
