Medical Trainers for Ukraine (BLS and ITM)

You can now apply as a trainer for the period from mid-June to mid-September 2025.

We are currently looking for trainers for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Intermediate Trauma Management (ITM). We welcome applications from individuals who are qualified to deliver either one or both of these trainings.

Each training-mission will take place over a minimum of two weeks per rotation, with a total of three rotations planned during this period.

The training team will consist of both international and Ukrainian trainers and the sessions will be conducted in English and Ukrainian, with interpretation provided as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Training Delivery: Deliver course material in an engaging and effective way to course participants. The languages of delivery will be a mix of English and Ukrainian/Russian with the potential use of interpreters.

Education Quality Control: Implementation, monitoring and updating teaching materials and methods based on feedback from the training course

Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive teaching records. Create a feedback in collaboration with the CADUS Training Coordinator and Ukraine Training Coordinator that will gather the most relevant information to improve the quality of course delivery.

Training Organization: Assist the Training Coordinator Ukraine in course preparation and follow up, including reporting and partner liaison.

Extended duties: As the CADUS medevac project requires significant work, the trainer may be asked to support the medevac team with logistics and inventory management.

Travel: Trainers must be prepared to travel to the East of Ukraine. Teams will have pre-deployment briefings and constant safety and security support.

Driving: Trainers may be required to drive in order to reach training locations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Role appropriate medical qualification (e.g. currently licensed medical doctor, nurse, paramedic with experience in emergency/trauma medicine)
  • Provider of one of the following courses ALS/ACLS/PALS/ATLS/PHTLS or equivalent
  • Proof of successful participation in an instructor/trainer course desirable
  • Minimum of 1 year of training/instructor experience
  • Experience working with NGOs or international organizations is preferable.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian desirable

Reporting and Supervision

Organisational Supervision: .Trainers’ contracts, HR and payment is managed through the Programme Manager Ukraine in the CADUS back-office.

Technical Supervision: The Trainer works in close collaboration with the Training Coordinator for Ukraine. The Training Coordinator organises the training, location and travel for the trainer team. The Head of Mission Ukraine leads all infield team members on safety and security issues.

Medical Supervision: Trainers will consult with the Head of the Health Department for any medical related questions.

Location and Working Conditions

This requires travel for 2-3 week periods to Ukraine. Accommodation and transport will be provided by CADUS e.V. while Trainers are on mission in Ukraine. Prior to departure, presence may also be required for briefing in the CADUS back-office in Berlin. Travel to Donetsk/ Kharkiv/ other regions of Ukraine may be required upon request.

This is a paid position offering valuable experience in international medical training in a humanitarian context. Accommodation, in-country transport, and pre-deployment support are fully provided.
