Destination country/region: Islamabad, Pakistan
Period: February 2022
Brief description: In Pakistan we support Kabul Luftbrücke (eng: Kabul Airlift) with a hygiene concept and medical support. There, evacuees from Afghanistan wait for their papers to enter Germany.
Project progress:
At the beginning of February, one of our medics flew to Islamabad to support the Kabul Luftbrücke team. Kabul Luftbrücke is a civilian organization that has been working to evacuate vulnerable individuals from Afghanistan and assist them in applying for asylum since the Taliban took over in August 2021. The evacuees are first flown from Kabul to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, where they wait for the necessary paperwork to continue their journey. In Islamabad, Corona is currently very present, and few countermeasures are being taken. To ensure that those waiting in Islamabad do not become infected with Covid-19, our Medic carries out tests and draws up a hygiene concept for the accommodation.
