Gaza needs more emergency medical relief: More support for people who urgently need medical care. Right now!

Providing emergency humanitarian aid in Gaza is becoming increasingly difficult, while the need continues to grow. Hospitals have been bombed, medical staff killed, and the medical infrastructure severely damaged. There is a shortage of everything: staff, medications, supplies, and functioning medical facilities. For the seriously ill and severely injured, this can mean that life-saving treatment is unavailable.

We are on the ground. We can and want to help even more. That’s why we need you! We’re raising €250,000 to expand our emergency response on the ground.

We’ve been providing emergency medical aid in Gaza since 2024 and supporting field hospitals. As part of the WHO EMT structures, we also carry out medical evacuations. We have access. Now we need your support to do more.

Current Situation: Providing aid is becoming more difficult – and more expensive.

The destruction is making our work on the ground increasingly challenging. Hospitals have been destroyed, medical personnel killed, and the health care system severely weakened. The remaining health care facilities lack staff, medications, medical supplies, and equipment.

According to the UN, more than 18,500 seriously ill and severely injured people are waiting for medical evacuation. For many of them, the necessary treatment is not available in Gaza.

At the same time, people who are injured or seriously ill must be treated on the ground. Our teams are therefore working with partners such as the Palestinian Red Crescent to provide medical care in field hospitals and other facilities.

But even the simplest tasks have become a challenge: Roads are destroyed in many places. This puts extreme strain on our ambulances and vehicles, which require constant repairs, and spare parts are scarce. Getting medical supplies and other essential goods into Gaza is also extremely difficult and expensive.

Our Goal: More Medical Evacuations, More Emergency Aid

CADUS has been active in Gaza since 2024. Our teams provide emergency medical aid and, together with local partners, support the care of patients on the ground. As part of the WHO EMT structures, we also carry out medical evacuations.

Now we want to significantly expand our capacity.

So that more seriously ill and severely injured people can receive the urgently needed treatment outside of Gaza.  And so that our teams can continue to provide medical care to people on the ground.

To do this, we need €250,000.

The fact that we were able to get to Gaza and provide aid there in 2024 was only possible because thousands of people supported us with their donations. You made something possible that at first seemed almost impossible.

Now we need you again.

Because for us, solidarity means not looking away when providing help becomes difficult. It means taking responsibility. Staying the course. And working together to ensure that people are not left alone.

What we need your donations for

Approx. 150,000 € – Medical supplies, medications, and replacement parts

For medical evacuations and the care of patients on site. This includes, for example, defibrillators, pumps, syringes, and other medical supplies for (intensive) medical care during evacuations, as well as tires, fuel, lubricants, and spare parts to ensure our ambulances remain operational and necessary repairs can be carried out.

Approx. €100,000 – Field Staff, Logistics, Coordination & Security

For our response teams and everything needed to safely plan and deliver medical aid under the difficult conditions in Gaza. An important part of this is funding local medical professionals, as well as safety equipment such as protective helmets, bulletproof vests, and first-aid kits, and logistics and operational coordination.

CADUS e.V. is recognized by the tax authorities as a nonprofit organization and is exempt from corporate income tax. Therefore, you can claim a tax deduction for donations made to us.

We automatically issue you a consolidated donation receipt for all your donations made during the current year. This is mailed out in the first quarter of the following year.

For online donations, the donation receipt is sent to you via email as an encrypted PDF. If you transfer funds directly to our donation account and include your address in the payment reference, we’ll send it to you by mail.

For donations up to €300.00, the tax office generally accepts the bank transfer receipt as proof of donation. You can also include our simplified donation receipt.

Can I support CADUS with in-kind donations for Gaza?
Unfortunately, we generally cannot accept in-kind donations for our missions. For our emergency medical aid, we need supplies that have been tested and meet our requirements. At the same time, accepting, inspecting, storing, and transporting in-kind donations involves a significant amount of effort, which we, as a small organization, cannot manage.
In Gaza in particular, importing goods is especially complex and involves high logistical and financial costs. Furthermore, the types of goods that can be imported and the permits required for them are subject to change at short notice.
If you’d like to support our work, a monetary donation is therefore the most helpful way to assist us. This allows us to procure the necessary supplies in a targeted manner and respond flexibly to the current needs of our missions.

Why is CADUS still able to operate in Gaza, while other NGOs have had to suspend their work or leave the country?

There are various ways and mechanisms through which humanitarian organizations can operate in a war-torn and crisis-stricken area such as Gaza. The options available depend, among other things, on the specific organization, its registration status, its mandate, and the relevant coordination mechanisms. The legal and organizational differences are complex.

CADUS operates in the Gaza Strip through the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) mechanism. We were approached by the WHO to deploy our medical capabilities on the ground as an EMT.

To operate as an Emergency Medical Team, organizations must undergo a comprehensive classification and vetting process. This process assesses, among other things, medical capabilities, personnel and technical equipment, as well as structures and standards. Operations as an EMT are then conducted within the framework of the WHO mechanism and the designated coordination and approval structures.

The requirements for humanitarian organizations and their staff may also vary depending on the access route and mechanism.

CADUS operates in Gaza primarily through the WHO-EMT mechanism and is therefore subject to the applicable guidelines and authorizations. Other organizations operate or have operated through different mechanisms and are accordingly subject to different legal and organizational frameworks.

In addition, many organizations have been required to register through a specific registration mechanism. CADUS has not yet been required to do so. Accordingly, we have not yet had to submit, for example, the names or other personal information of our staff as part of this mechanism.

For other organizations, however, the associated requirement to submit personnel information was a major reason for suspending their on-site operations. From the perspective of humanitarian organizations, such a requirement raises significant questions regarding the protection of staff, data protection, and the upholding of fundamental humanitarian principles.
