Infield Project Assistant (Volunteer) (m/f/d)

About the Project & Team

The full-scale war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022 since then, the humanitarian crisis has not stopped. The displacement of civilians and the overall humanitarian needs are enormous.

According to the UN in February 2025, more than 6.9 million people have left the country to seek safety and refuge in other countries. Additionally, at least 3.7 million people are believed to have been displaced within Ukraine. 12.7 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. https://www.unrefugees.org/emergencies/ukraine/

As a humanitarian organization, CADUS has been working in Ukraine since February 2022 to support local capacities in their emergency relief operations. Our current program focuses on complementing existing MedEvac capacities and providing medical training to local professionals and volunteers. As a staff member in this project, doctors, nurses and paramedics work together with staff from our local partner organizations within the field of medical evacuations.

Team Structure & Supervision

The Infield Project Assistant works in close coordination with the Medical and Operations Coordinator at our base in Dnipro. This position gives candidates the opportunity to explore their areas of interest and to make a special contribution to the team.

Core Responsibilities

As part of this team, you will support the team management on site in facilitating the deployment of the medical teams and provide support mainly in the administrative area. This includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Support with designing and implementing work processes to support medical teams
  • Support with logistics
  • Support in financial documentation
  • Support in the area of Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Preparation and processing of documentation for CADUS back-office
  • Support with completing local errands that require short-distance driving

You are also expected to support the team with daily routine work and administrative processes as instructed by the Project Coordinators.

Required qualifications

  • Willingness and interest supporting processes around administration of ongoing projects and the implementation of overall CADUS deployment in Ukraine
  • Ability to work closely and reliably with other team members
  • Very high degree of flexibility in taking on tasks and assignments
  • You enjoy organizational tasks and bring a high level of resilience and foresight
  • Availability for a minimum of  7 weeks
  • High capacity for teamwork, stress tolerance, and flexibility in accepting existing assignment and operational structures

Other requirements

  • Full COVID-19 vaccination (currently three doses) and adherence to STIKO-recommended standard vaccinations
  • Passport validity of at least 6 months upon arrival
  • International Driving Permit (Class B)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Humanitarian Principles and a strong commitment to the organization’s Code of Conduct

Desired qualifications

  • Experience or degree in project management, humanitarian assistance or development cooperation related fields is an advantage
  • Previous experience in humanitarian contexts or working in remote areas is an asset
  • A completed Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) is an advantage

Guiding Principles

All activities are based on the Humanitarian Imperative and the Code of Conduct in Disaster Relief. The position is subject to CADUS policies, guidelines, and legal frameworks. CADUS maintains a strict no-weapons policy, and staff are expected to represent the organization with professionalism, neutrality, and respect at all times.
