Team Lead for construction intervention

We don’t know yet when our interventions will take place or what the interventions will be exactly. It can either be:

  • reconstruction of a building (duration: 3 weeks)
  • essential carpentry training (duration: 1 week)
  • essential joinery training (duration: 1 week)
  • essential welding training (duration: 1 week)

Volunteer position

Title: Team Lead for interventions: construction site/essential carpentry, joinery and welding trainings

Role description: You will be the Team Lead of our interventions in construction sites and essential training workshops. All the administrative tasks of the intervention lie within your responsibility as well as the coordination of the team and the communication/networking with the municipalities. You are in close contact with the Project Management from the Back Office.

Subordinate to: Back Office Project Management

Superior to: Trainers / Crew members

Field of Expertise

Core Tasks

  • Project Management: You administrate the execution of the interventions and the surroundings of the project like travel  and accommodation organization and booking. You take care of the budget including budget planning and monitoring and financial reporting. You network with the authorities, the municipalities and are the focal point for both your crew, external parties and the Back Office.
  • Team Lead: You coordinate the crew and take care of their well-being. Here you focus especially on their mental health and if the work in a high-risk area causes them any distress. You are their first point of contact and ensure they get all the information (from the network as well as from the Back Office) that they need.
  • Documentation: You track and document the interventions progress and report the daily status back to the Back Office. You track all the financial aspects (as expenses and receipts) of the interventions and report them thoroughly.
  • Safety & Security: You monitor the Safety & Security situation of the area of the interventions and ensure that the whole crew – as well as the participants of the interventions – comply with the according protocols. You are in close contact with the Safety & Security Advisor from the Back Office and follow with their guidance.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Safety & Security: You are responsible for the Safety & Security aspects of the interventions that are related to being deployed to a high-risk area. You follow the Safety & Security protocols and ensure everybody’s compliance.
  • Networking: You are CADUS’ official representative and focal point for the municipalities, the crew and the Back Office. It’s your responsibility to ensure that all relevant parties have all the necessary information. You organize meetings and plan CADUS’ future collaborations with interesting partners.
  • Paperwork: You are in charge of all project related documents including financial documents and reporting.

  • Highly stressful situations: You manage the balancing act of keeping your team informed and at the same time keeping stress away from them.

Personal Skill Set

Hard Skills

  • Professional background: You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Humanitarian Assistance, Emergency and Disaster Management, International Development, or a related field.
  • Work experience: You worked for a minimum of 2 years in a leading position in one of the areas mentioned above.
  • Knowledge: You possess all the relevant knowledge for the execution of Safety & Security protocols (preferably in Ukraine) and the context of the russian war of aggression on Ukraine. You are familiar with working with authorities of the humanitarian sector.

Soft Skills

  • Leading with empathy: You are empathetic and work with everyone at eye level. You support your team’s professional and personal growth and are always there for them. You ensure your team’s needs are known to you and give your best to meet them.
  • Communication: Good communication comes easy to you. You are transparent and always choose the right language from highly professional to very casual. You speak Ukrainian or are able to work with translations.
  • Emotional resilience: You are resilient to stress. Even in highly stressful situations and high-risk areas you remain calm and respectful. You are able to work and function in stressful surroundings and never unload your personal distress on others. On the contrary: you hold stress away from others.

Languages

  • English: Your English is fluent written and spoken.
  • Ukrainian/Russian: If possible.

Other

  • Driving: Driving license B

Conditions

  • Volunteer position, but per diems, accomodation, travel costs and insurance will be covered
  • Time period: Will be decided after May 05th. A minimum of three consecutive weeks availability is needed.
  • Working time conditions: From 9am to 6pm on six days a week (Monday to Saturday) – maybe even longer
  • Travel conditions: Either by car or by train (expenses covered by CADUS)
