About CADUS
CADUS e.V. (CADUS) is a non-profit and independent emergency response organization based in Berlin. Our work primarily consists of providing life-saving support to people in humanitarian crisis situations. Our aim is to enable the transformation of knowledge and technology. Together with local stakeholders, we want to develop new and innovative projects that are both adapted to local (disaster) conditions and co-designed by the addressees of humanitarian aid. The interdisciplinary approach of CADUS is intended to give organizations and individuals the opportunity to develop innovative humanitarian solutions through active participation in humanitarian work.

  • Hours: 30 – 40 h/week
  • Date of employment: immediately, initially limited to one year
  • Remuneration: Based on TVöD EG11 (Table 2022)

Position and context

The finance team at CADUS is looking for reinforcement for the financial administration of our non-profit organization. You will work with many different people in the team and communicate with a wide range of perspectives. As an employee in the finance department, you will be responsible for assisting with all tasks that arise, or working on them independently. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a willingness to work in a small organization are important to fill this position. What matters to us is that you are motivated and talented, not what degree you have! You should enjoy designing and building structures and establishing processes, and be highly committed and flexible.

As an employee in the finance department…

…you are responsible for the entire financial administration of the association as part of the team. This includes payment processing, documentation and accounting as well as internal and external reporting with all associated steps and activities, e.g:

  • Invoice and reimbursement processing, travel expense accounting and payment,
  • Cash management and control of the association’s accounts,
  • Processing the bookkeeping up to the handover of the accounting stamps to our tax consultancy,
  • Preparation for tax consultancy,
  • Assistance with / contribution to personnel administration,
  • Donation and grant management,
  • Collaboration in the planning of the use of funds and liquidity management,
  • Collaboration in the preparation of financial reports for grants,
  • Finding solutions in cooperation with other departments of the association,
  • Collaboration in the structural development and the necessary adjustments to any new requirements, circumstances and tasks of the association.

What you should bring with you

  • Knowledge of accounting (training or studies in economics, business administration, economics or similar)
  • or longer experience from practical relevant work
  • Basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Fluent communication in German and English
  • Possibility to work mainly in the Berlin office
  • Ability to work in a structured, responsible and careful manner
  • Flexibility in the organization of working hours (working more hours at times by arrangement, but compensatory time off when there is less to do)
