Hello dear humanitarians,

Since February 5th CADUS is in Gaza with an EMT mission. Since then we have brought 5 teams to Gaza and back safely. We have good news: We are extending our mission to Gaza by 3 months. From June to August.

Our mission profile for clinical staff:

  • Doctors: Emergency doctors, anaesthesiologists, intensivists.
  • Other specialties with Medevac experience are also welcome to apply.
  • Paramedics or nurses: experience in ER, ICU, critical care/flight transports or Medevac is necessary.
  • At least 2 years of work experience.
  • Very good English level necessary, Arabic is an asset.
  • Driving skills at least B2, C1 ideal.
  • Team player, resilient, flexible, reflective, cooperative.
  • Able to take initiatives as well as to respect chain of command.
  • Experience in low-resource settings in a humanitarian context is necessary. Experience in conflict or war zones is an asset.
  • Strong commitment to the CADUS’ Code of conduct and the humanitarian principles.

Our mission profile for Technical/Logistician staff:

  • Technical expertise in various areas (rather as an allrounder than a specialist in one topic) are necessary.
  • Capability in electrical work (generators, solar power, communications technology etc.), water filtration and sanitation, repairing cars as an asset.
  • Able to find creative solutions and think outside of the box
  • Staying structured and calm even under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and Team-Player
  • Driver’s License is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of First Aid / Basic Life Support or similar is highly recommended.
  • Experience in humanitarian missions preferred.

Hard facts about the mission:

  • Each rotation includes about 21 days infield, in total 4 weeks including travel time and briefings in berlin. Every Rotation will have 3 day of Preparing, Training and briefing time in Berlin (GER).
  • This mission is a volunteer mission. We pay for flights, accommodation, all briefings, clothing and food/perdiems – no salary.
  • In Gaza we will only move together with or as an WHO convoy – free movement will not be allowed at all. We will work under the umbrella of the WHO.
  • Each rotation team consists of 8 people: 1x head of mission, 2-3 doctors, 4 medics, 2-3 tech/log/Drivers.
  • We carry out this mission with great respect for humanitarian principles. Everyone can and may have a political opinion, but the CADUS gaza mission is not an opportunity to pursue or promote them. We save every human life regardless of origin, opinion or party to the conflict. Participation in this mission is only possible, if you feel like you can uphold the humanitarian principles and work in accordance to our Code of Conduct.
  • Working at a TSP, doing MEDEVACs (also to the north of Gaza)

The CADUS policy of “helping in places where no one else does” brings us to a point in this mission where we want to emphasize that you are entering an active war zone that requires a great deal of sacrifice, prudence, caution and concentration from you. Everything, including accomodation, work, MEDEVAC, Mission frame or Location can change every time. You are expected to be highly resilient, flexible and adaptable. You should only choose this mission if you know your personal limits, can communicate them in good time and act accordingly.

There is no question that the civilian population of Gaza urgently needs our help. The CADUS policy of “helping in places where no one else does” brings us to a point in this mission where we want to emphasize that you are entering an active war zone that requires a great deal of sacrifice, flexibility, prudence, caution, and concentration from you. Every single team member is dependent on your discretion and neutrality. You should only choose this mission if you know your personal limits, can communicate them in good time and act accordingly.

Nevertheless, during the two/three days of “Berlin preparation time” we will offer briefings and trainings to prepare you for the situation, circumstances, and scenarios. You will get to know your crewmembers and be briefed on all the necessary equipment’s and procedures. We will do our utmost to make your stay in Gaza as comfortable as possible and adapt to the circumstances. You will be equipped with modern and reliable equipment, some of which has been customized just for this mission.
